The City

The story of the City and its struggles with Moloch and the Gloomy Woodpeckers.

Hyper agglomeration

In the distant future, cities cover a large part of the planet, they merge into hyper agglomerations, which in turn determine the territories of futuristic city-states. There is no longer any wild nature except for synthetic reservations enclosed in concrete cages. There is no freedom of open movement in the physical and virtual world. Only deep conspiracy and enormous knowledge or belonging to authorities can guarantee tolerable existence. Absolute anti-utopia - hyper agglomeration, megastructure vestibule.

Dissociation tunnels

Moloch devours the City. Strange creatures appearing in the City give rise to enticing dissociation tunnels. Huge Gloomy Woodpeckers seek out the following victims. The city can only be saved by the arrival of the Turtle Moritz and his mistress ... But they are far away and moving too slowly - the city is doomed. Who will help them?

The old preacher

After the breakthrough of Moloch into the residental areas of the City, the Old Preacher came out to meet a danger, in order to protect his old and dilapidated Church and the townspeople who had hid in it. He calls the ancient prayers for help. And hordes of creatures obey him and go out of their shelter to oppose Moloch.

Deep ocean party

Deep in the ocean, not far from the Mariana Trench, Captain Sad Heaven's submarine was pouring in search of the unusual. And it so happened that he noticed an interesting glow and heard an intriguing underwater rhythm. Having sent there his faithful assistants, he discovered an unprecedented and unheard of action. Underwater techno-shaman CIP mixed the coolest party with mermaids and octopus, and some other underwater inhabitants. And they had nothing left as soon as they joined them.

Breaking the fetters

An unknown fugitive from Pharmacom's secret lab broke off his fetters and escaped to the city. His power is great, but his head is completely empty. What side will a stranger take in the town beset by Moloch? The first thing he notices is Gloomy Woodpecker, his blood begins to boil, confrontation is inevitable...

Night Witnesses

On a quiet and peaceful night, far beyond the City, the Observatory staff went for a walk - ventilate after long hours of observation, when computers were processing data. They heard reports from the City about the siege by Moloch, but they did not pay much attention due to the location of the Observatory. They soon noticed a strange glow in heaven. They correlated this with other reports about UFOs seen above the city and other parts of the planet, but they did not believe in these sounds. But now the blood in their veins froze and strange whispers from the bushes came to their ears. Moloch has come to them and now it all depends on them and their first reaction to the things they notice - at the end they are scientists. How will they deal with this, we'll find out in the next episode...

Entrance to the Cemetery

Near the City is an old abandoned cemetery - an inexhaustible resource mine for Moloch. Under the watchful eye of Gloomy Woodpecker, Moloch priests celebrate their grim and dark rituals of summoning zombies. At this point, they can fill their armies with new units without any major problems, without fear that the troops of the Humanity Union will interfere. The only defender of the Old Cemetery is the statue of the Souls Keeper, but it is only a statue and there is no priest of Light to restore active defensive powers in it. The Moloch army increases its size...

Emerald rain

After a good party at the underwater shaman named CIP, three underwater explorers set off on their journey. For many months, the immense underwater plains and canyons have finally reached the place of which the old fisherman spoke to them. Apparently there is a place on the bottom of the ocean where an emerald underwater rain falls. When they got there, they were astonished by what they saw - ancient ships were lying on the cliffs, a lot of uncharted species of underwater life were swimming, and a mysterious submarine, marked with an old faded SDH mark, circled around them. And soon the famed emerald rain began to fall from the upper layers of the ocean! Regardless of possible threats, our wanderers made an attempt to contact the mysterious submarine ...

What awaits them behind the hard iron shell and whether they can discover the secrets of the emerald rain - we will find out in further episodes of underwater adventures of three daredevils of the underwater abyss.

Jurassics

As you probably remember - the City is besieged by hordes. And now Jurassiki has arrived. Their intentions are unknown, they were earlier noticed by people from the observatory and placed great hopes in fighting hordes. As it turns out, Jurassiki are a randomized group of travelers between the worlds and they came to the outskirts of the city by accident. The first character they encountered is the brother of a fugitive from Pharmakom. He wanders in the wastelands on the outskirts of the City in search of food and possibly his brother, but the only thing he ever encounters is the hordes. What will result from his meeting with Jurassics? Will they help him find his lost brother? Will they help the city? We'll find out in the next episodes ...

Birth of Gloomy Woodpecker

Probably many of you have been wondering - where did the Gloomy Woodpeckers actually come from? Well, deep in the basement of the city, still in the ancient districts, techno-larvae invaded and local residents took eggs from them for scrambled eggs. But the larva idyll did not last long. As soon as Moloch units managed to get to the larvae queens, Moloch's dark scientists modified the DNA, and the scrambled eggs grew into a Gloomy Woodpecker that sowed scare in the City.

Stellar Laboratory

Near the planet where the City is located, there is a small moon (and maybe even an asteroid) orbiting. In the center of this asteroid or moon (if you like) is Dr. Schteinfield's laboratory. In addition to the professor on the base, there is a Type-A mobile wall robot, the Crabs brothers, Alexei the cat and the 032hnf7 mouse. The team also has at its disposal the autonomous repair and research satellite BeeHandler.

Currently, the laboratory is conducting research on comet balls that can somehow counteract the Gloomy Woodpeckers. The works are carried out in an extraordinary mode, because BeeHandler's observations show that Moloch will soon go out into space, and it will exactly come out - because in the last few months the Gloomy Woodpeckers have grown up to a maximum of 60 km! This is because they are too powerful and therefore are at the top of the food pyramid on the planet. All hope for the professor and his team - the whole planet is counting on him.

What a specimen

While the Professor on his asteroid is looking for new ways to fight the Gloomy Woodpeckers and the remaining forces of Moloch, dark scientists are not asleep - do not put their hands and tentacles in the sweat of their brow and implanted transistors and capacitors are developing a new version of Woodpeckers. And here is the newest model! Vibro-Woodpecker - at night some suspicious noise bothers you to sleep, or more precisely a vibration - distant and intrusive, or maybe close and tormenting - with a high probability a Vibrating Gloomy Woodpecker appeared somewhere in the area. To the rhythm of a jackhammer, it travels through residential areas at night and takes its toll, and ear plugs won't help.

Gloomy Incubator

The process of making the Gloomy Woodpeckers is much more complicated than it might seem. After laying the eggs, they go to special incubators, where they mature in radiation and subliminal waves - thus becoming gloomy. The moment the Gloomy Woodpecker hatches, he is checked for characteristics and then follows one of his possible career paths. The works last 24 hours a day and even on Valentine's Day the dark staff cannot afford a bit of tenderness - cyborgs are cyborgs. The chief scientist knows about it and deliberately puts emotional restraints on them (although, as we can remember, some individuals have rioted in the past and even one has escaped - Breaking the Fetters). Did a spark of warmth and maybe love just flicker between our protagonists in this painting? It's hard to say, but what the second QA surely noticed was something unusual that day, that he turned his back on his tedious work and watched the interactions of the incubator cyborgs.

BrainCrab Service Center

Deep in the labyrinths of Moloch's underground bases, the Brain-Crabs are under maintenance. The Brain-Crabs are a tactical psychic support unit, also equipped with a universal third level laser and 3 independent frontal scanners also equipped with smaller level 5 lasers. The Krab moves on four autonomous Tortoise-class foot modules. Polarized mega-cells are used as the computational unit (something like a pole bag connected by cuticle leakage through the holes in the bag's microgrid - ala synapses). Each of which can operate independently, and together they can spend the power of as much as 100 Peta-Hash of computing power. They are used in the meta-neural network for data exchange and calculation of the most important tasks locally - for a specific unit in accordance with the priority of importance, also calculated in real time from the input data. Due to the type of waves emitted for primary site preparation, Brain-Crabs cannot wear armor apart from suspension armor - e.g. armor against ground mines. As a support unit, she supports the Grim Woodpeckers and locally other units as far as possible.

Capturing and reprogramming such a Brain-Crab (using dolphins) would give a substitute for hope for the City's citizens, although even a reprogrammed Brain-Crab network would have side effects on the areas of influence - regardless of what message it would broadcast and whom it supported. In one sentence, the Brain-Crabs are still Brain Crabs!

Two tankers at rest

Days go by, but Moloch's hordes do not abandon the City offensive. The long-awaited reinforcements of the Union of Humanity will hardly break through the suburbs of the City. And here one of the units of the Union of Humanity arrived after heavy fights to the store of dwarf Gomez to supplement their food, medicine and ammunition, after a short rest to move on to help the City.

Larvae Inspection

In the City, the time has come to inspect the larvae that lay the eggs of the Gloomy Woodpeckers. The most productive larva of the month goes to the inspection first - the Inspector first looks at the overall work of the support team and then checks it himself. He checks the condition of the teeth, antennae, nasal gland and the most important part of the abdomen that lays eggs. Inspection time is always an additional stress for the operating team, but also a great hope for them - because if the inspection is successful, they will get a better pay (as long as Moloch's henchmen get a salary at all), more time for themselves (but not too much because you have to keep an eye on the larva) and the most important - the trait for the larvae of the month (if their ward shows the best of all). As you can see, everyone is very concerned about the Inspector's visit - even the mobile mine smiled at the Inspector.
